BACKGROUND

Analytics are transforming the world of sports and training by providing measurement data on all aspects of athletic performance.

Athelytix is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this megatrend by making analytics available to the masses.

  • Precision measurement of the movement of sports objects
  • Real-time predictive analytics to translate event results into real world performance
  • Video capture of athlete biomechanics

PROBLEM

Traditional sports training methods are expensive and inefficient and tend to take a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

SOLUTION & TECH

Our technology combines precise data with a video capture of every “event” (e.g. hit or pitch) to identify a player’s optimal mechanics. This feedback can dramatically accelerate a player’s development.

MARKET OPPORTUNITY

Our initial target is the 19 million active baseball and softball participants in the U.S. The system can be deployed at batting cages, stadiums, sports complexes and practice facilities.

And because our patent covers the use of lasers across all sports, we have opportunities in entertainment, retail and gaming across a wide variety of sports.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

Athelytix’ technology has several meaningful advantages over existing “tracking” technologies; lasers are far more accurate than either infrared or radar, can be used indoors or outdoors and are able to track bi-directional movement.

Hittrax® uses infrared technology and is deployed at select batting cages in the U.S. The systems are networked for league play, but are limited to indoor use.

Statcast® (used by MLB) employs radar and high-speed cameras, but is prohibitively expensive.

Rapsodo® uses a slow-motion camera to capture a 14-foot window around home plate from which it extrapolates data to project the outcome. Pitching and hitting systems cost $4-5K each and are able to determine spin rate, but requires a 7-second delay.
